A Chat with Macy about her Apprenticeship Journey at Safy B’s

Macy started with us as an apprentice, and we couldn’t be prouder to announce that she’s now a graduate stylist! For those of you who’ve followed her journey or had your hair done by her, you’ve seen firsthand how dedicated she is. Here’s a little behind-the-scenes chat about her apprenticeship experience and how she’s grown into the incredible stylist she is today.

"For me, I knew I wanted to get stuck into the hair world right away. I wasn’t really interested in the college route—it felt too much like school, and I was ready for something different. I craved independence, and the idea of working hands-on straight away just made sense. I loved the idea of learning in a real salon environment while getting paid to do what I love. The apprenticeship at Safy B’s gave me everything I was looking for—real experience, real clients, and the chance to see how the industry works day-to-day "- Macy 

"Starting as a trainee was such an eye-opener! Being in the salon, seeing how everything operates, and learning from Safy and the team was invaluable. I immediately felt like part of the family, and I loved helping the other stylists and chatting with clients. The one-on-one training with Safy was one of the best parts—it wasn’t like being in a classroom full of students where you can feel a bit lost. Safy was able to break things down for me and really focus on helping me grow at my own pace. It’s that personal attention that made all the difference in how quickly I developed my skills"- Macy 

"Go for it! If you’re thinking about it, don’t hesitate—it’s such a brilliant way to get your foot in the door and really learn the trade. It’s not always easy, but you learn so much, and honestly, there’s no better feeling than working with real clients and getting hands-on. Mistakes are part of the journey, so don’t stress too much about getting everything perfect straight away. And my biggest tip? Make sure you find the right salon and team for you. Having a supportive environment makes all the difference, and I was lucky to find that with the team at Safy B’s."- macy 

"One of my biggest career highlights so far has to be winning Apprentice of the Year at the Salon Awards last year. It was such a proud moment for me because it felt like all the hard work I’d put in during my apprenticeship really paid off. Being recognized like that in an industry I love was such a confidence boost. It made me realize that not only was I learning and growing, but others could see it too" - Macy
